1). Has the application been submitted?
No not yet, the plans for all three sites (Sites A, B & C) will be submitted as one planning application. The proposed submission date is July/August 2008.
2). Is there a need for Olive Hill Primary School to expand?
The recent amalgamation with Holt Farm School has led to the significant loss of large areas of the existing tarmac playground and the sports pitch due to the construction of the additional classrooms.
The new proposals for Olive Hill Primary School will provide not just replacement but enhanced facilities incorporating new all weather play areas, replacement and additional sports pitches as early years learning centre and an environmental zone for the children to enjoy.
3). Why does the Sports and Social Club have to relocate?
The Sports and Social Club is currently on a short term lease. The new proposals will provide certainty and allow the Sports and Social Club to secure its long term future.
Furthermore, the proposed new cricket pitch will be larger than the existing provision, which in addition to a new club house will provide the club the opportunity for promotion to a higher standard league.
4). How is the development on the Green Wedge going to affect local wildlife?
St Modwen is aware that a major concern of local residents is the environment and it is committed to providing long term improvements to the area. An ecology and environment consultant (Atkins) was instructed to record and assess the habitats present on all three sites and to assess the potential for notable fauna and flora to occur in or adjacent to the scheme.
A synopsis of the ecology report will be available shortly..
5). Is the development going to affect Monarch’s Way public footpath?
No, there will be no diversion of Monarch’s Way footpath.
6). Is there a chance the housing development on Coombs Road will be built before the Sports and Social Club is relocated?
No, following planning approval for all 3 sites, work will commence on the new facility for the Sports and Social Club on Site B and relocation of the club will take place prior to works on the existing site (Site C).
7). Do the residential proposals have any apartments included?
No, the application will consist of a mixture of bungalows, 2 bed, 3 bed and 4 bed houses.
